Chicago Design Week 2017: Call for Proposals

Chicago Design Week 2017
October 16–20

INTERSECTIONS

This October, Chicago Design Week is focusing on Intersections in Design. We are excited to announce a call for event proposals to shape our Chicago Design Week event schedule. If your proposal is accepted, the Chicago Design Week committee will promote the event you organize. This is a unique opportunity to engage with Chicago design and the community to create relationships, explore ideas, and challenge the status quo.

Applications due: August 21
Selections made: September 4–8
Chicago Design Week: October 16–20

TELL ME MORE

The definition of design and its role in society is evolving at a rapid pace. A deepening overlap between disciplines, skills, roles, perspectives, industries, communities and more has never been more apparent or more integral to how the design community defines itself. Collaboration and debate, synchronicity and tension—these forces are driving the evolution of our profession, the world around us, and role we play within it.

This year’s Design Week is 7 days worth of programming and events dedicating to the topic at hand—a deep examination of the various intersections impacting the design world and our broader communities.

What intersections impact or interest you? How can you bring that dialog to the city-wide platform that is Chicago Design Week? Let’s create this year together!

OUR ASK

We encourage all members of the design community to submit proposals for Chicago Design Week programming that explores this year’s Intersections in Design theme. Interpretation in regards to topic and format is entirely up to you.

This call is open to all—Chicago-based or beyond. However a local representative is recommended since Chicago Design Week events should take place on Chicago turf, and you will be responsible for executing your idea.

The Chicago Design Week programming committee—a joint partnership between members of AIGA Chicago, Chicago Design Museum, and the Society of Typographic Arts—will review all proposals for inclusion in the official Chicago Design Week programming slate.
